Brad is a Principal with Brown Smith Wallace, L.L.C. in St. Louis, Missouri. Brad specializes in the valuation of businesses, intangible assets and intellectual property for financial and tax reporting, transaction planning and litigation support purposes. In addition, Brad provides calculations of damages and serves as an expert witness in litigation matters. Before joining Brown Smith Wallace, L.L.C., Brad was a Senior Manager with CBIZ Valuation Group, LLC and a Manager with Deloitte Financial Advisory Services.
Brad earned an MBA from Washington University in St. Louis and a BS in Accounting and a BS in Finance, respectively, from the University of Maryland.
Brad is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Accredited in Business Valuation (ABV), a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), and an Accredited Senior Appraiser (ASA). Brad is a member of the Appraisal Issues Task Force, the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), the CFA Institute, the American Society of Appraisers, the Association for Corporate Growth, and the Licensing Executives Society.
Brad currently serves on the AICPA's In-Process Research & Development Task Force, which is re-writing the Practice Aid Assets Acquired in a Business Combination to Be Used in Research and Development Activities: A Focus on Software, Electronic Devices & Pharmaceutical Industries to be consistent with evolving "best practice" and the requirements under FAS 157 and FAS 141R. Brad is a former member of the AICPA Fair Value Resource Panel, which advised the AICPA regarding the needs for best practice guidance documentation. Brad recently assisted in the vetting of the American Society of Appraiser's upcoming new course BV302, Special Topics in the Valuation of Intangible Assets.
Brad is currently working on a number of research initiatives that he hopes will result in publications of interest among valuation specialists, investment bankers, and attorneys alike.
