Robert L. Dunn

Mr. Dunn, a former partner and head of the Litigation Practice Group at Cooper, White & Cooper in San Francisco, California, conducted major litigation for 30 years for such clients as AT&T, GTE California, The Golden State Warriors, and Union Bank, as well as smaller companies and individuals. His experience covered a broad spectrum of commercial disputes, including contracts, employment relations, securities, business torts, trusts and estates, taxation, real estate, and other business matters. He is now employed as Corporate Counsel for Real Restaurants. He is considered one of the country's leading legal experts on commercial damages.

Mr. Dunn received his undergraduate degree from Cornell University. He graduated magna cum laude from Harvard Law School, where he was a member of the Board of Editors of the Harvard Law Review. He has been active as an expert witness on legal aspects of commercial damages and as a consultant to other attorneys on the subject.

Mr. Dunn is the author of three authoritative and comprehensive books: Recovery of Damages for Lost Profits (now in its fifth edition), Recovery of Damages for Fraud (now in its third edition) and Winning with Expert Witnesses in Commercial Litigation, all published by Lawpress. He also recently co-authored (with Everett P. Harry) “Modeling and Discounting Future Damages” (Journal of Accountancy, 2002). He has lectured extensively on damages issues before the American Bar Association Litigation Section, state bar associations, the National Association of Certified Valuation Analysts, the California Society of Certified Public Accountants, the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the American Society of Appraisers, among other organizations.

Mr. Dunn also serves as an arbitrator on complex cases before the American Arbitration Association, where he is a member of the securities and real estate arbitration panels. He served six years on the Corte Madera City Council and was its Mayor twice.
