Cynthia B. Rubin joined Flemming Zulack Williamson Zauderer LLP in 1992 and became a partner in 1999. Since joining the firm, Ms. Rubin has worked on all types of litigation, but has concentrated exclusively on matrimonial practice for the past several years. She has represented clients in all areas of matrimonial practice including negotiating separation, pre-nuptial, post-nuptial, and living together agreements. Ms. Rubin's extensive trial experience includes complex equitable distribution, relocation, custody, and paternity cases, and she has significant appellate experience. Ms. Rubin recently won an appeal in the Court of Appeals in which she wrote an amicus curiae brief on behalf of the New York City Bar. Ms. Rubin frequently represents clients in divorces and pre-nuptial agreements involving complex financial issues such as the valuation of businesses and professional degrees and licenses, complex executive compensation, real estate holdings, and partnership interests. She also has experience in cases involving the Hague Convention on International Child Abduction and has successfully litigated the return of abducted children from overseas. Ms. Rubin is the 2007 recipient of the Abely Award for pro bono achievement presented by Sanctuary for Families Legal Center. She is a member of the First Department's Committee on Character and Fitness, Chair of the City Bar Committee on State Courts of Superior Jurisdiction, Co-President, with the Hon. Ellen Spodek, of the Judges and Lawyers Breast Cancer Alert, and immediate past Co-Chair of the Interdisciplinary Form on Mental Health and Family Law. Ms. Rubin participated as an international monitor for the Truth and Reconciliation Commission amnesty hearings in South Africa in 1998 and was a participant in the XII Congreso Internacional de Derecho de Familia, Havana, Cuba, September 2002. She is a Coro Foundation Leadership New York graduate.
