Brian T. Whitlock is the Partner in Charge of the Wealth Transfer Services Group at Blackman Kallick Bartelstein, L.L.P., a Chicago based CPA firm. His practice concentrates in minimizing the tax implications of wealth transfer and business succession planning for family-owned business enterprises and high net worth individuals.

Brian brings experience as a practicing attorney to the accounting environment. A certified public accountant, he holds a B.A. from Northwestern University and both a J.D. and L.L.M. in Taxation, with high honors, from the Illinois Institute of Technology/Chicago-Kent College of Law.

Brian and his partner, Irving Blackman, have written numerous books on various tax, business valuation, and business planning topics, including most recently Passing Your Business on to Your Family (Irwin Financial Press, 1995) and Blackman and Whitlock's Tax Secret's of the Wealthy (3rd Edition, 2003). Brian authors a monthly column in the Illinois CPA Society Insight Magazine under the banner "Untaxingly yours"; and Brian and Irv co-author a tax column under the banner "Blackman - On Taxes" that appears in more than 50 trade journals throughout the United States.

Brian is a member of the AICPA Technical Review Panel on Trust, Estate and Gift Tax issues. He is currently the Executive Vice Chairman of the Illinois CPA Society and a member of the AICPA Board of Governors. Brian is slated to become the Chairman of the Illinois CPA Society in June of 2004.
