Mr. Hansen holds the Juris Doctor from the University of Utah, the M.S. from the University of Utah in Civil Engineering, and the B.S. from the Utah State University in Environmental Engineering. At the University of Utah, Mr. Hansen was a Leary Scholar, served on the staff of the Utah Law Review, and was the recipient of the CALI Excellence for the Future award in Biotech and Chemical Patent Law. Mr. Hansen's publication, What does CREATE create? An examination of the Cooperative Research Enhancement and Technology Act and its impact on patent law, appeared in the 2005 Fall edition of the 2005 Utah Law Review.

Mr. Hansen's legal practice includes enforcement and defense of intellectual property rights including patents, trademarks, copyrights, trade secrets, and franchise rights. Mr. Hansen also prepares and prosecutes domestic and foreign patent and trademark applications, prepares intellectual property licensing agreements, joint research and development agreements, and patent validity and invalidity opinions. Mr. Hansen also has experience conducting intellectual property due diligence related to intellectual property acquisition as well as corporate mergers and acquisitions.

Before Mr. Hansen's entry into the legal profession, he enjoyed a productive career as a Licensed Professional Engineer holding technical and management positions with consulting engineering firms across the state of Utah. Mr. Hansen has a broad range of technical expertise related to multi-media remedial devices cross-utilizing mechanical, chemical, and biological engineering principles, as well as expertise in software design related to probability and optimization methods.

Mr. Hansen is a member of the Utah State Bar and is licensed to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office, the United States District Court for the District of Utah, the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, the Federal Circuit Court of Appeals, and all Utah state courts.
