Keith is a partner in the firm of Wisan, Smith, Racker & Prescott, LLP. He heads the tax and valuation departments. Keith graduated from Brigham Young University with a Masters of Taxation. He also has the designations of Accredited in Business Valuation (ABV) and Certified in Financial Forensics (CFF) from the AICPA. Additionally he is accredited as a Certified Valuation Analyst (CVA) through the National Association of Certified Valuation Analysts (NACVA).
Keith is a Certified Public Accountant and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the Utah Association of Certified Public Accountants (UACPA). He received a Certificate of Educational Achievement in Business Valuation from the AICPA.
Keith has been involved with business valuations since the mid 1980s. He has lectured at Salt Lake Community College, the Salt Lake Estate Planning Council, the Utah Valley Estate Planning Council, Lorman Education Seminars, and the UACPA's Annual Valuation Symposium on the subject of business valuation. Keith has experience as an expert witness in the areas of business valuation, partnerships, and estates. Specifically, he has testified as an expert witness in valuation cases in Utah, Idaho, Wyoming, and California. His experience in business valuations spans a variety of industries in Arizona, California, Idaho, Pennsylvania, Utah, and Wyoming.
Keith has written articles on partnership taxation for the Tax Advisor and Taxation for Accountants. He is a former board member of the UACPA and is a current board member of the Utah Taxpayers Association. He is a past President of the Salt Lake Estate Planning Council and a past Chair of the BYU School of Accountancy Advisory Board.
From 1990-1995 he chaired the Corporate Tax Force of the Governor's Tax Review Commission which successfully rewrote the State corporate tax laws. He is currently Chairman of the Tax Review Commission (TRC), which advises the Governor of Utah and the Utah legislature on State tax policy issues. Keith was selected by Utah Governor Olene Walker to be one of the advisors charged with restructuring Utah tax laws. He also served on Governor Jon Huntsman's transition team as co-chair of the policy priority group. Keith has received the AICPA Public Service, the UACPA Distinguished Service, and the UACPA Outstanding CPA in Public Practice Awards. He has also received the Utah Taxpayers Association Taxpayer Service Award. Keith was named as one of the country's top tax practitioners by "Money Magazine" in 1997.
